Hey all,
As discussed (briefly) at the last meeting, it's probably time for us to
lose Meetup as an organizing tool. It's been fun, we're not getting
$10/month of value out of it. The value that we *do* get is:
1) Brings new members (python.meetup.com is the #1 google listing for
"boston python"). (Ooh, I just noticed that the python.org site has a
direct link to python.meetup.com)
2) The reminder service ("hey moron organizer, update the next meeting")
3) RSVP
I'm sure there's more to meetup than just this, but we don't seem to be
using it.
So here are some options that we could use.
A) Use Yahoo Groups, or Google Groups, or the like
B) Use one of the directly competing services (a quick Google for "meetup
replacment" led me to gatheroo.com, upcoming.org, civicspace.???... this was
quickly getting out of hand)
C) Roll our own
Thoughts?

The short answer is "Yes." The long answer is "No."
