we are soon going to be migrating our Boston Plone meetup.com page to
a Plone site at http://bostonplone.org
if fact, if anyone would like to learn how to create a Plone skin for
your website, Rob Baker (from Oxfam America) will be demonstrating it
tonight at the Plone meetup. http://plone.meetup.com/1/events/4896205/
We'd be happy to share our experiences moving from meetup.com to
Plone, in case the Python meetup group is interested in doing the
same. Plone has a built-in member registration system and add-ons for
events calendar, blogs, wikis, podcasts, discussion forums, job
board, recommended books, searchable mailing list archives, etc.
see what they've done with these other Plone-based user group sites:
Zope/Python Users group of DC
http://www.zpug.org/
TriZPUG: Triangle Zope and Python Users Group
http://trizpug.org/
Seattle Plone Users Group
http://www.seattleplone.org
The advantage of using Plone is that we can share code with the
various other Python user groups who are using Plone for such website
features as event registration, employer<->jobseeker tools, mailing
list integration, etc.

I would probably be interested, if I weren't already the meetup
organizer for the Boston Plone meetup group and the Jazz meetup
group. organizing two meetups every month is already a handful.
